Zaandriehoek will consist of approximately 220 owner-occupied and rental homes in the social, middle and higher segment and a commercial space on the Zaan. Urban planning design
The urban planning design by AWG from Antwerp is in line with the immediate surroundings. Existing qualities in the area are enhanced by taking into account the historic building typology of warehouses on the Zaan. Sightlines on the Zaan in (semi-)public green areas will be preserved and enhanced where possible. The green axis that will be realized in the area offers extra space for play facilities and is adjacent to the front doors and entrances to the gardens of adjacent building blocks. Various parts in the area will also be car-free, in order to make optimum use of the quality of living and accommodation.
Varied range of homes
Approximately 220 owner-occupied and rental homes are being built in the social, middle and higher segment. The offer varies from small apartments for starters to larger luxury apartments in warehouses and ground-floor homes in the middle of the area on the green axis. There will also be a commercial space of approximately 400 m2 on the Zaan, which will provide space for various entrepreneurs. This includes, for example, a restaurant and a space where residents and neighbors can meet. The final interpretation has yet to be determined.
Planning
Now that there is an urban planning framework with the intended volumes, architects will be selected and will further detail the plan and shape the development at building level. This will be further elaborated in collaboration with Dreef Beheer, with whom the development combination Zaandriehoek will be formed. The final urban design is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2022. The area will be built in phases. The sale of the first phase is expected to start in mid-2023.
Location
Zaandriehoek is located directly on the Zaan in the town of Wormer, part of the municipality of Wormerland. Wormer is one of the oldest places in the Zaan region. The project area is located in the Zaanbend of Wormer, between Veerdijk and Bruynvisweg. Wormerland is a green and diverse municipality with a wealth of cultural-historical values. This is due to an interplay of peat meadow landscape, the water, the reclaimed land and the characteristic cores. Wormerland is located north of Amsterdam and Zaandam. It forms a green buffer in the urban fabric of Amsterdam, Zaanstad and Purmerend.
