Pannenbier at De Baak in Amsterdam

This week it has been a year since we festively celebrated the start of construction of De Baak in Amsterdam, and the children from the Bakemabuurt unveiled the construction board. The highest point of De Baak has been reached, which is celebrated with “Pannenbier”.

Pannenbier, a traditional phenomenon, means that the highest point of a building has been reached and the roof tiles can be put on. This is organized by the contractors for the construction workers. The celebration of the highest point started with a festive week, where every contractor took care of the lunch one day a week. The week ended on Thursday 24 June, where a sunny barbeque and an inspiring speech were enjoyed while dancing to the music of the DJ.

A unique project in Amsterdam

De Baak is a project with an important goal: to create more homes in the mid-price segment in Amsterdam. De Baak consists of 127 medium-priced rental homes in Amsterdam Nieuw-West, in the Geuzenveld-Slotermeer district. The three pillars – Together, Smart, Clear – are reflected in all elements of De Baak. The project connects on several levels. Galleries where there is normally a lot of wind have been replaced by heated rooms where residents can chat with each other. The communal areas, both indoors and outdoors, ensure that residents can engage in activities together. This social cohesion of De Baak has a positive effect on the happiness of future residents.

Sustainable development in Amsterdam

De Baak is a good example of sustainable development in the city. In addition to creating affordable living spaces in Amsterdam, we always look towards the future. We can see sustainability everywhere at De Baak. The project will be completely climate neutral and rainproof. This ensures that De Baak will be a building that will keep up with the times. In addition, De Baak is surrounded by a green landscape. The five parks in the Bakemabuurt in the Geuzenveld-Slotermeer district provide enough space for residents to enjoy nature. With the center of Amsterdam just a stone’s throw away, De Baak is a place where residents love to live. De Baak blends into a green environment, which creates even more connection between the residents, nature and the city.

The start of the lease of De Baak is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2022. Would you like to read more about De Baak?
