On Wednesday 9 February 2022, the Zaandriehoek development consortium, consisting of KondorWessels Vastgoed, KondorWessels Projecten (both of which are VolkerWessels companies) and Dreef Beheer, signed a preliminary development agreement with councillor Jeroen Schalkwijk from the municipality of Wormerland for the development of Zaandriehoek. The signing of this agreement has brought the development another step closer to realisation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The agreement states that the new residential neighbourhood in Wormer will include more than 220 owner-occupied and rental homes in the social housing, mid-priced and higher segments. The diverse range of homes vary from small apartments for first-time buyers to larger luxury apartments in warehouses and homes with access at ground level at the heart of the area along the green axis. There is also going to be an as of yet unallocated commercial space of approximately 400 m\u00b2 along the river Zaan.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The municipality of Wormerland is enthusiastic about the development partly because the current plans by the Zaandriehoek development consortium match the municipality’s ambition to create more homes for a range of target groups. As councillor Jeroen Schalkwijk explains, “We’ve achieved a fantastic result which means that more than 220 homes can now be built in the Zaandriehoek. This represents an expansion of at least 2.5% on the total number of homes in Wormerland. What is more, no fewer than 30% of the homes in the entire project are going to be for the social housing sector.” The focus of the development consortium is to develop an attractive residential environment which offers space for a variety of target groups and this will ensure a good flow within the current housing market.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Now that the Zaandriehoek development consortium has been set up and the preliminary development agreement has been signed with the municipality of Wormerland, architects can be selected in order to develop the plan in more detail. According to the schedule, the urban design is going to be completed in the second quarter of 2022. The expectation is that the area will be developed in phases, with sales of the first phase starting in mid-2023.<\/p>\n
