IJgenwijs reached its highest point last summer, after construction started a year ago. And rain or shine: this was celebrated. Together with the contractor and the future residents who braved the autumn weather. The project on Centrumeiland was developed in co-commissioning: the residents were given the opportunity to contribute ideas about their home and the building.
IJgenwijs is located in the heart of Centrumeiland in IJburg, where approximately 1500 homes will be built in the coming years. IJgenwijs is located in a traffic-calmed area, surrounded by the water of the IJmeer, with the tranquility of the beach on one side and the bustling IJburg and Amsterdam on the other. Perfect for residents who love greenery, sports and recreation, but also need facilities such as supermarkets, catering, childcare and schools.
The 34 homes in IJgenwijs enclose a green communal courtyard and each have their own outdoor space, as well. The building is divided into four separate porches, which is visible in, among other things, the color and texture of the facades. These are built in brick in various natural tones. The first residents are expected to move in the first quarter of 2023.
