The municipality of Delft and development combination Gele Scheikunde C.V. (Amvest and KondorWessels Vastgoed) are taking the next step in the redevelopment of the Gele Scheikunde area. Alderman for Housing Karin Schrederhof (municipality of Delft), CEO Heleen Aarts (Amvest) and director Richard Elbersen (KondorWessels Vastgoed) signed the anterior agreement for this on Thursday 16 February 2023. In the redevelopment of Gele Scheikunde there are plans for approximately 300 energy-neutral apartments, commercial spaces and catering establishments. This project thus contributes to the housing and work assignment of the municipality of Delft and the region. The construction of Gele Scheikunde is expected to start in mid-2024.
With the signing of the anterior agreement for Gele Scheikunde, agreements have been made by the parties involved about the redevelopment of the Gele Scheikunde complex. This concerns financial agreements, agreements about planning, the planning process and the program. With the signing of this agreement, the procedure for changing the destination is started and the development combination Gele Scheikunde C.V. further shape the design.
Alderman Schrederhof: “Gele Scheikunde is located where the city center merges into the TU Campus. This project makes an important contribution to Delft’s ambitions to create more apartments and jobs. In addition, it gives an impulse to the liveliness in the area.”
Gele Scheikunde
The existing building complex Gele Scheikunde is being transformed into a lively neighborhood where existing buildings are combined with new construction. The striking facade of the building will be preserved. The program comprises about 300 energy-neutral apartments, of which at least 15% are social rental apartments, at least 20% are mid-market rental apartments and the rest are free sector rental apartments and owner-occupied apartments. There will also be a catering function in the former auditorium and a number of spaces where small-scale commercial facilities are possible. The residents and employees of the commercial facilities park in one shared parking basement under the buildings. These are attractive additions for future residents and for the entire neighbourhood.
Heleen Aarts CEO Amvest on behalf of the Gele Scheikunde development combination: With the development of Gele Scheikunde, we provide 300 households with a delicate home within walking distance of the center of Delft. Gele Scheikunde is unique due to the charming combination of old and new and the diverse program consisting of apartments, ground-level apartments and attractive commercial functions. The redevelopment of the Michiel de Ruyterweg and the opening of the small park on the Julianalaan also offer extra quality for the neighborhood and its new residents.
