Realisation of Lumen in full swing
The realisation of the Lumen project is in full swing. Of the 69 homes in total, well over 95% have been sold. The demolition of the former office building of the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management is to be completed, on schedule, in March 2021 and will make way for the new Lumen building. Lumen is right next to the beach, the boulevard and the harbour in Scheveningen. It is rough but wonderfully imperfect because it has been constructed from natural materials, such as wood and stone, to give it a unique finish. Lumen is also full of bright colours. Natural grey stone and chalk white tints mean you are bathed in light both inside and out. The exterior brickwork has been given a light sandy layer so that the building’s colour matches the beach at sunset and sunrise.
The design
Lumen is being built on the location of the former office building of the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management and the aim is to turn it into a unique place to live. The location is part of the three-kilometre-long seafront in Scheveningen, ideally located between Scheveningen harbour and the boulevard. The design by OZ links up seamlessly with the DNA of the Scheveningen coast. Lumen apartments are of various sizes, with views of the sea, harbour and town. The floor areas range from approximately 60 m² to no less than 260 m² and that does not even include the outside space!
In addition to modern apartments, Lumen also offers a variety of communal facilities, designed by design agency Tank. These include a coffee lounge with a sea view. There is also a surf shack where you can leave your surfing gear and rinse the sand from your feet and an eSafe Wall where you can safely receive and send packages. Lastly, there is a car park – hidden under the dunes – providing a safe place for you to leave your car, motorbike or bicycle. Lumen is designed to make life as pleasant as possible for its residents.
Almost sold out
If you would also like to live in Lumen, it is still possible to register. There are still a few apartments available, such as the generous and type U corner apartment, which is flooded with light, and which is situated on the 4th floor. The apartment offers well over 177 m2 of floor space and a sea view with south-east and south-west facing terraces.
